The West Bend Power is an integral part of this community! We are excited to announce that the Power coaching staff and players will be joining camp to help lead and develop your athletes.  This partnership will add tremendous value to the structure of camp, providing high level coaches and Power players that are invested in the youth program at WCYHA.

NEW THIS YEAR: We welcomed some great feedback after last summer that addressed areas we can focus on to support the development of each athlete. This summer we will be implementing test-outs at the beginning and end of camp, both on and off the ice. The purpose of conducting test-outs is to provide us (coaches, athletes and parents/families) with data on each athlete’s strengths and weaknesses prior to and upon completion of camp. We plan to report back to the athlete and their parents/family on their improvements over the course of the summer in order for them to refine their focus for what areas need improvement in the future.

On-ice Skill Development:

Each session will have unique differences for athlete engagement while skill repetition will be enforced to develop each athlete over the course of the summer. Sessions will also include a variety of small area games, creating fast paced game situations and competitve play.

We are focusing on fast paced sessions, where athletes will get multiple reps in every drill. Creating small groups with short lines. 4-5 coaches will be on the ice to give athletes an increased amount of coaching points throughout the practice.

Skating: stride/ edges, speed, power, conditioning, speed w/ the puck, etc.

Stickhandling: Puck control, overspeed, situational awareness.

Off-ice Strength & Conditioning

Workouts will be after each on-ice  session. Session will include an Off-ice shooting session + Gym strength & conditioning.

Schedule

Tuesday and Thursdays:

Mite: On-ice 10:00-11:00am Off-ice 11:15-12:00pm

Squirt: On-ice 11:15-12:15pm Off-ice 12:30-1:15pm

Peewee: On-ice 12:30-1:30pm Off-ice 1:45-2:30pm

Bantam: On-ice 1:45-2:45pm Off-ice 3:00-3:45pm

High School: On-ice 3:00-4:00pm Off-ice 4:15-5:15pm
